Heavy Snowfall causes Chaos in Austria

Heavier than usual snowfall and high winds have caused chaos on roads and railways in many areas of Austria.
Part of a major railway route has been shut down in the west of the country, and some villages and tourist resorts have been cut off.
Up to 1.2 metres of fresh snow has been recorded in some areas since Thursday.
Some of my friends who are also living in the western part of Austria as I used to, but who are studying in the Eastern part for instance in Vienna, can't go back to University after their Christmas holidays at home. At least they have a pretty good excuse, why they could not attend lectures :)
