Playstation tablet and the resemblance to the Apple iPad

A report from Engadget says that Sony is working on a tablet, which will be focused on one thing - games. The S1 "tablet" will run the Android 3.0, Honeycomb and is being led by computer company Vaio.

He will focus on Qriocity, a digital download service from Sony that lets users download music, e-books, videos and games on the go. The service was launched only in Europe.
According to Engadget, the S1 was awarded the "PlayStation Certification" from Sony, which is the same phrase used for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play - also known as the Playstation Phone

Indeed, it appears that the S1 and Xperia play will have much in common. Both will be equipped with the Android and has connectivity with the Playstation Network. This raises the question whether the S1 and the Xperia will run both play the same games and applications, that neither the IPAD and iPhone. That means he will be able to run the PSOne classic, and a series of original games and applications created using the hardware structure PlayStation neutral Suite. Games will also be compatible with the NGP, Xperia Play and other Android devices. Of course there will probably be games developed exclusively for the S1, but it would make sense to use the same basic development tools for both devices.

The use of the phrase "PlayStation Certification" also suggests that manufacturers of the tablet will be able to offer the same experience of the Playstation. Earlier this year, Sony announced it would let makers of smartphones from other manufacturers could produce mobile phones with certification of the Playstation.

It all adds up to a new strategy for Sony, Apple seems to mimic how the same space. Your PSP handheld sold well, but never really ignited the industry. S1, and certification Xperia Play Playstation program show dramatic changes for the company that could make a big difference in how people look at the PlayStation brand in the future.
