Inception to Become a Video Game

So, will there be an Inception sequel? "It's not something I want to say no to, but it's not something I've given a lot of thought about," Christopher Nolan told Entertainment Weekly today, leaving the door open. But, there will definitely be an Inception videogame. "I always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place," Nolan said. "At the moment, the only direction we're channeling that is by developing a videogame set in the world." The director didn't offer details or a release date, but said he'll have a direct hand in it, calling video games "something I've wanted to explore." It could be like Myst, only slightly less confusing. [Inside Movies/EW]

Antitrust Investigation Establishes Internet Giant as EU's Top Target

BRUSSELS—The European Union's antitrust cop began a formal investigation of Google Inc. that zeroes in on its core search and advertising businesses, cementing the Silicon Valley company's position as Europe's premier corporate target.

At issue is whether Google manipulates search results to disfavor providers of Web services, such as price-comparison tools, that Google competes with. The European Commission also is investigating allegations that Google restricts the advertisements that can be displayed by website operators who use some of its services.

The inquiry has been percolating since at least February, when Google disclosed that the commission, the EU's antitrust watchdog, was looking into complaints from other, smaller Web services.

After midnight on 13 December, look out for what promises to be the year's best meteor shower.

The shooting stars appear to emanate from the constellation of the Heavenly Twins, which is how they get to be called the Geminids. If you're lucky, and have a very dark location, you may be able to spot up to 100 meteors an hour. 

Phaethon has now been confirmed as the parent body of the Geminids. But is it an asteroid or a comet? 

Like an asteroid, Phaethon is a dark, rocky body, apparently totally different from a comet that emits jets of gas from its icy nucleus. But now, this has been thrown into doubt. The smart money is on Phaethon being a "dead comet": one whose icy covering has boiled away under temperatures of 1,000C. Phaethon yields the chunkiest meteors of all. So look out for some beautiful, brilliant, slow-moving shooting stars on 13-14 December. 

Bush and Zuckerberg bond on 'the Facebook'

One of them sometimes gets called the most powerful man in the world; the other is George W Bush. The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has broken bread with the retired President of the US, revealing that despite their 40-year age gap and divergent political backgrounds, the duo have more in common than you might expect.

In an hour-long chat from Facebook's Silicon Valley headquarters, broadcast on the website, Mr Bush, who is touring the country promoting his memoir Decision Points, compared his eight years in the White House with Zuckerberg's shorter, stratospheric period at the helm of the world's most successful social networking website.
