How fast is the Internet at Google?

Can you guess what the connection speed that Google employees have at their disposal, the company's central office in California? In a forum discussion with the developers of Google Chrome, a user decided to do just that question.

The result is impressive. The picture above shows a peak of uploading and downloading. To download files, the lucky company employees have achieved a speed of up to 523 Mb / s. As for uploading, the maximum number recorded was 147 Mb / s.

To get an idea of how this speed is significant, just take a look at the average speed that the United States: 10 Mb / s. In Europe, the average is 12 Mb / s. The 500 MB / s from Google's headquarters represented an almost 50 times higher than average.

If you had access to such a connection in your home, for example, could fill a 500 GB hard drive in just 16 minutes. Would that be enough for their downloads? =)
