Google launches subscription service for digital content

System was launched a day after Apple's service.
'Google One Pass' gives control of the content to publishers.

Google announced on Wednesday (16) the launch of "Google One Pass", a system of sale and payment of digital content that gives control of the management to publishers, unlike what happens with the service launched by Apple on the eve .

"Google One Pass"was created for different publications that establish a direct payment to the user. "Our goal is to provide an open and flexible platform that reinforces our commitment to support the publishing, journalism and access to quality content, " explained Director of Product Management at Google, Lee Shirani.

The system allows companies to fix prices as well as the subscription period and establish a user name and a unique password that can access the publications contracted any appliance that uses Google technology.

"Google One Pass" is already operating in Canada, France, Italy, Germany, UK, USA and Spain, which has already been adopted by the group "Prisa". Google's announcement was published a day after Apple released its own digital signature service. With their system, Apple charges a 30% share of the publisher of the value of each signature performed by means of devices such as iPhone and iPad.

"When the publisher bring a new or existing subscriber to the application, it gets to 100% and Apple gets nothing, " the company said. The App Store offers more than 350 000 applications to iPhone users, iPod touch and iPad in 90 countries.
