The Burj Khalifa—which Tom Cruise likes so much—is
complete, a needle of glass surrounded by turquoise water in the middle
of the desert. Here's how the complex looks, photographed by GeoEye 1, the highest resolution imaging commercial satellite.
GeoEye 1 is at an altitude of 684 kilometers over the surface of the
Earth, and it's capable of capturing details of just 16 inches long in
black and white, and 64 inches in color. That's probably myopic compared
to the latest spy satellites, but good enough for the rest of us to go all ooh and aah in Google Maps. [New Scietist]
