Pakistan's refugee wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider is seeking asylum in the United Kingdom and has confirmed he is retiring from international cricket. Haider fled from Dubai to London on Monday after receiving death threats when he refused to fix two matches. 





Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was left frustrated by his team's 0-0 draw at Manchester City. "I am disappointed we didn't win, we needed to win," said the Scot on a night when Chelsea beat Fulham 1-0 to extend their Premier League lead.  



McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has refused to give up his slim hopes of winning the Formula 1 title at this weekend's final race of the season. Hamilton trails Ferrari's championship leader Fernando Alonso by 24 points - with 25 on offer for a win - heading into Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
