Lithuania to play Eurobasket in Panevezys, Latvia – in Siauliai

As expected, it was officialy announced that Panevezys will host Lithuanian national team during Eurobasket 2011 group stage. Meanwhile Latvian national team will play its' games in Siauliai.

As both cities are lacking quality hotels, the organizers of Eurobasket 2011 are hoping it would solve part of the problem. Siauliai is just 60 kilometers away from Latvia border and 130 kilometers away from Latvian capital Riga.

A record 24 teams will be playing in next year's Eurobasket. Teams will be divided into 4 groups, with games alos be played in Klaipeda and Alytus. Vilnius will host second round, while finals will be played in Kaunas.

A draw to determine groups will be held in January. Tickets will be available from 1st of March.
