Fresh from its success at the Telluride and Toronto film festivals, The First Grader has now premiered in London.
It is the story of an 84-year old Kenyan pupil who made history in 2003 as the oldest person ever to enrol in a primary school.
Kimani Maruge, who wanted to learn to read and write, took literally an offer by his government: “Free education for all.”
