A combination picture shows the marble of Venus and Mars before and after restoration, inside Chigi Palace in Rome November 18, 2010. The statue was restored adding the hands and the penis, as it was discovered in 1918, after personal pressure by Italy Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, La Repubblica newspaper says. 


Patti Smith, the veteran musician and poet, has won a prestigious literary prize for her first book at the age of 63. Smith, who is nicknamed the "godmother of punk", was awarded the US National Book Award for non-fiction for Just Kids, her memoir about life in New York in the 1960s and 70s.
