Lady Gaga is most played artist on the radio in last year

Airplay monitoring body Nielsen Music said she is the performer who has featured most on radio with 275,000 plays. The award was announced on Tuesday night at the annual Radio Festival in Salford Quays, Manchester, during the PRS for Music Hall of Fame Dinner.

 Last year the title went to Take That, and it is not restricted to any particular song.

Lady Gaga's most aired track during the year to September was Bad Romance.

Helena Kosinski, the international marketing manager for Nielsen Music, said: ''Lady Gaga has had phenomenal success during 2010, ratcheting up an enormous number of radio plays in the last year.''

The singer can add the award to the eight gongs she won at the MTV Video Music Awards in September this year.

The 24 year-old, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, had a record 13 nominations. She caused controversy when she collected one of her awards in a dress that appeared to be made of meat.  http://www.telegraph.co.uk
