IF3 Freeski Film Festival

The IF3 Freeski Film Festival is all about free style skiing. The festival was hosted by Annecy in France – one of the towns which is bidding to host the Winter Olympics in 2018.

The winner of the Best Film gong was American movie “The Way I See It”

These films are made on very small budgets compared to for example most typical Hollywood blockbusters. Most of the European films here were made on budgets of under 40,000 euros.

Jean Guillaume Charrier, a member of the festival’s jury explains: “I think that in terms of creativity and originality, European films do very well. Even with smaller budgets they have made films which are very refreshing and innovative – the plots are simple – but they are real films. And the editing is great, the special effects… European films hold their own so perhaps Old Europe still has this fun and fresh aspect.”
The festival included 3D offerings, gals on skis, and extreme skiing in India.

Punchline won the best editing prize at the festival. The girls were represented in the film “As We Are” and the film Azadi: Freedom was entirely shot in Kashmir…
