Red Hot Chili Peppers are reportedly
planning to sue UK artist Diana Vickers for copyright infringement on
her song "My Wicked Heart" being too similar to the band's classic song
"Under The Bridge."
Listen & Decide:
"My Wicked Heart" by Diana Vickers
"Under The Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
"That happened without us even
knowing! We had the song and it didn't have the 'My Wicked Heart' bit in
it and then we put the vocal in and we were like, 'Why does it sound so
familiar?'" Vickers told MTV News in a recent interview.
She added: "Then we realized it was
because we were listening to 'Under The Bridge' the day before. We were
saying, 'Should we change it? Should we not? What should we do?' Sod it,
no, we're just gonna keep it, it works, it's the way it is."
Now, Anthony Kiedis and the rest of the
band are threatening legal action against Vickers, who allegedly failed
to get permission from the RHCP to use part of the song, Britain's the
Sun reports.
In related news, Red Hot Chili Peppers
are reportedly halfway complete with the band's next studio album, which
is expected out in March 2011.
