Microsoft Game Studios Vice President Phil Spencer believes 3D gaming will ‘evolve’ and will ‘play a role in entertainment’.
The firm’s US boss, who states that 3D is here to stay on Xbox 360, told CNN: “If you want 3D, 3D games are available today on Xbox 360 and will continue to evolve.
“Clearly, we're not going to ignore 3D. I think it is something that will play a role in entertainment.”
But Spence pointed out that 3D TV sales are below expectations and
that the market is currently too small for it to fully commit itself.
“As an entertainment company, we're trying to do things that millions
of people can go enjoy today,” Spencer said. “And for better or for
worse, people just don't really have TVs in their house right now that
are going to do 3D in a way that's going to work.”
But Spence praised Nintendo for its work on the forthcoming 3DS, stating: “I like 3DS – you don’t have to wear the glasses.”
