Marat Sargsyan (born 1978) In 2009 he graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, specializing in Film and TV Directing. He worked on many TV shows, music videos and made a number of short movies.
Director of the Armenian origin Marat Sargsyan won two prizes in international film and music festival Kustendorf held in Serbia on January 13-19 . His Short Film Lernavan were selected from over 350 short films and competed with 28 bands of young filmmakers from around the world. Festival closing ceremony "Lernavan was awarded the Jury and the Press' Bronze Egg" prizes.
Presenting the prize, the Press Jury President Dubravka Lakic said, that can not be called human beings, and justify their existence on this planet, if we‘ll not plant a tree once in our lives. It was a hint of poetic visual sense of the tree, which shows M. Sargsyan 's film "Lernavan.
"Lernavan tells about the homeland, such that what once knew no longer exists. The center of the film - a father and son looking for father's homeland "Lernavan. However, there is no such place and no one even heard it. After a long strange trip by coach, father and son come to a place where neither domestic nor human, neither natural nor earth ... rests exclusively white - as white, still blank sheet - the mountains.
