Geohot denies involvement in PSN hack attack

Soon-to-be-celebrity hacker and pain in Sony's arse George 'Geohot' Hotz has denied any involvement in the ongoing breach at the PlayStation Network.

The 21-year-old hacker - who is best known for creating the first software-based hack for the iPhone, and getting hypervisor access and exposing the root key to the PlayStation 3 - has made it clear that he had nothing to do with filleting Sony's online gaming servers.

In a blog post, Hotz, who was recently hauled through the US legal system by Sony's dogs of law, says: "Anyone who thinks I was involved in any way with this, I'm not crazy, and would prefer to not have the FBI knocking on my door. Running homebrew and exploring security on your devices is cool, hacking into someone else's server and stealing databases of user info is not cool. You make the hacking community look bad, even if it is aimed at douches like Sony."

Sony prepares new update on the PSN

Sony announced that they are preparing measures to make its PlayStation Network service will be safer.

Patrick Seybold said, "We are carrying out measures to make our services more secure than before. We sincerely regret any inconvenience or concern that this cessation of service may be causing, and we can ensure that re-activate the services as quickly as we can .

The PlayStation Network security has been breached and there were those who had access to all users' personal data.

The company is preparing a firmware update for the console that will also serve to force a change in the password of the accounts of users, although Sony has not revealed details.

Trailer Need for Speed: The Run

EA has announced the next entry in its long-running driving series Need for Speed.

Need for Speed: The Run launches on 3DS, PC, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 in Europe on 17th November, and in North America on 15th November.

The focus reverts to the world of underground racing, set against the backdrop of a high-speed race across the US from San Francisco to New York.

Development duties are being taken care of by Black Box, which helmed the franchise from 2002 to 2008, creating seven consecutive yearly updates including NFS Underground and NFS Most

Wanted. "EA Black Box will spend more than two years of development time on The Run to make sure this is the most action packed and finest cinematic racing experience in NFS history," EA said.
Need for Speed: The Run takes advantage of DICE's new Frostbite 2.0 engine, used in forthcoming first-person shooter Battlefield 3.

Criterion's social competition service Autolog, a series staple since 2010's superb Hot Pursuit, returns.

EA's first teaser for the game is below, and shows some of the environments on offer. There's a pleasing mix of locations, despite the switch to real-world surroundings after Hot Pursuit's fictional Seacrest County. Dense urban traffic, arid desert plains and icy mountain passes feature, with races apparently split into smaller legs spanning the width of North America.

The game's "Hollywood movie style" story is hinted at. An attractive young woman swerves in a city environment, seemingly pursued by police. There's even a glimpse of cops chasing an escaping figure on foot.

Intercut are shots of a driver waking in an upturned vehicle, suspended in his seat as a train ploughs towards him. Mysterious.

EA promises "immersive storytelling" and "cutting edge performances" depicting "a world with no speed limits, rules or allies".

Makeover your jeans and tee combo

Does your go-to outfit have you in a fashion rut? We know it can be tough to look trendy everyday, but the same-old same-old gets well, old, and fast. Here are two über cute ways to makeover your look, right this minute.

Go with the flow-y

Instead of throwing on an old tee, go for something loose and flowy (and brightly colored!) like this kimono top. It’s comfy and simple, just like a tee, but you’ll feel totally upbeat channeling spring’s volume-up-top trend. Make it your own with a long necklace and some chunky bracelets.

Kimono Shortsleeve Top, $11, loveculture.com

Ditch those old, faded BF jeans and flatter your figure with a fitted pair of dark denim cropped skinnies. The stretchy material in this cute pair will allow you to move around freely.

Denim Capris w/ Ankle Zippers, $20, forever21.com

Complete your outfit with a pair of strappy sandals. A mini wedge will give you just the tiniest lift to make you feel dressed up (but still totally comfy). And hop on the trend wagon with woven details and double buckles.

Madison Gladiator Sandal, $35, delias.com

Chic ‘70s

A classic hat instantly tops off your look. Be wary: It makes a totally fierce fashion statement.

Brixton Castor Hat with Brown Band, $45, lulus.com

A floaty lace blouse adds a dose of sweetness to your plain-Jane outfit. It’s cut like a t-shirt, but shows off your bitty waist.

Sweet On You Pink Lace Top, $35, lulus.com

Funny how a new pair of jeans makes all your old shirts look new again, right? Add a pair of espadrille wedges and hit the halls.

’77 Hi-Rise Flare Jean, $50, ae.com

Spring's cutest hats

Styles with narrow brims such as fedoras and cloches are cute options for a preppy, polished look. Match it with a pair of tailored shorts or a picnic-worthy dress and fitted blazer. Cute!

Apple tops Nokia to become world's largest handset maker by revenue

Apple crossed another major milestone in its second quarter of fiscal 2011, surpassing Nokia for the first time ever to become the world's largest phone vendor in terms of revenue.

The significant achievement was noted on Thursday by research firm Strategy Analytics. According to Reuters, Apple's iPhone revenue of $11.9 billionsurpassed Nokia, which saw its revenue shrink to $9.4 billion.

"With strong volumes and high wholesale prices, the PC vendor has successfully captured revenue leadership of the total handset market in less than four years," analyst Alex Spektor said.

AppleInsider first reported in January that Apple had surpassed Nokia in terms of revenue. Those numbers were based solely on Nokia's Devices & Services division. But the company's total sales, with more than just smartphones, were over $11 billion.

Nintendo Announces Wii Successor

System to be playable at E3 this June. Release set for calendar 2012.

After weeks of rumor and speculation, Nintendo has formally announced Wii's successor.

The followup to the system that, according to Nintendo, has sold 86.01 million systems as of March 31, will be announced at the E3 gaming expo in June, Nintendo said. The system will be released in calendar 2012.

Nintendo made similar announcement of the 3DS ahead of E3 last year. Unlike with that system, where Nintendo confirmed the system's 3D capability, the company did not provide any hints about the Wii followup system, nor did it give an actual name, instead just referring to it as "Wii's Successor System."

Attendees at E3, which runs from June 7 through 9, will be able to sample the system, Nintendo said. It will also announce specifics about the system at that time.

Nintendo also released its fiscal 2010 earnings report today. Sales targets for the new system are not included in forecasts for the current fiscal year (ending March 2012), the company said.

Yahoo buys TV sharing app IntoNow

Yahoo has announced a deal to buy TV-sharing start-up company IntoNow as part of its plans to increase its social media presence.

The financial terms of the deal, including price, were not disclosed.

IntoNow's software allows users to identify TV shows and share them with friends using mobile internet.

Amid falling revenue and profits, Yahoo is looking to expand into the mobile internet market, and to increase video advertising on the site.

"Relying on social channels as a means for discovering content - whether it's on a PC, mobile device, or TV - is rapidly on the rise," said Bill Shaughnessy at Yahoo.

"IntoNow's technology combines the ability to check-in to what a consumer is watching, engage in conversations, and find related content."

The application is integrated with Facebook, Twitter, iTunes and Netflix.

Launched in January this year, California-based IntoNow is led by Adam Cahan, a former executive at Google and Viacom's MTV.

Last week, Yahoo reported profits of $223m (£137m) for the first three months of 2011, down from $310m last year.

However, the figure was better than analysts had expected.
