Magical place - Hill of crosses

Before I arrived in Siauliai in Lithuania, I was searching, what kind of places I could visit here,  what can be interesting for me. One of these places is the Hill of Crosses 12 km north of the city of Šiauliai. We visited this interesting place yesterday. It was sunny weather, but i still need to get used to the cold wind :) Hill of Crosses is unbelievable experience for me. It was nice to see thousands of crosses in the one place. These crosses bring by people from vicinity, but also by foreign tourists (like myself) :). Crosses are usually made of wood or metal. I was surprised when I found the crucifix from Slovakia (my homeland) :). This place is magical and I hope there is still more and more crosses.

Peace and Mystery of Hill Of Crosses

When I decided to come to Siauliai for my EVS project, I searched in Google the word "Siauliai". Pictures of Hill Of Crosses were the first thing that I saw about this small city. My belief is Christianity, In fact Armenia is the first, who accepted Christianity as a state religion in 301. But the Hill Of Crosses was really strange place for me. I can't describe the feeling,. It was not a fear, maybe more something mystic. At least, I've arrived here and in conversations with my Lithuanian friends I was asking about that Hill. I think all of you know about the legends and stories about the Hill, so I will not tell you that :)

Sport news - Tour de France winner Alberto Contador tests positive

Cyclist Alberto Contador, winner of the 2010 Tour de France, has said he has tested positive for a banned substance. Contador's press officer said he had tested positive for clenbuterol during a rest on the Tour in July. In a statement, the spokesman added that the Spanish rider was the victim of "food contamination" and would hold a news conference later on Thursday. Cycling's governing body, UCI, later confirmed that Contador had been provisionally suspended. Cycling has struggled with doping allegations for years.
Among a host of high-profile offenders, US cyclist Floyd Landis was stripped of his 2006 Tour title for a positive drugs test.

Making of 3D Street Art

D graffiti, whether it’s in chalk or paint, on walls or the street, represents a new way of combining the mastery of Renaissance art techniques with the gritty, ephemeral qualities of amazing street art. These 3D street artists gives graffiti a whole new meaning – one that departs from the conventional interpretation of graffiti as vandalism in the form of images and letters scrawled on public property. Artists like Kurt Wenner, Eduardo Relero and Tracy Lee Stum create street art that is so incredible it is almost impossible to pass by without being sucked in to the worlds they create on asphalt and concrete surfaces.

The latins in Siauliai

Carlos is Peruvian artist in Lithuania. We met him  and his musician group in Siauliai Dienos, in Vilnius street, in the center of the town. We ask him why he and his pals are in the Baltic. " We are here because we haven’t  competitors, so we are more free to introduce our music. We are in Siauliai today because the owner of one restaurant call us for playing a music." The interview is in spanish, and Carlos continue talking about his impression about Lithuania and Siaualiai. " The Lithuanians are nice, only they in the Baltic are smiling and saying hello, for that I feel good here. We live in Kaunas, and it's good, but also Saiauliai seems confortable, though it is calm". The conversation continues, and our Peruvian friend started to talk about the beauty of lithuanian girls in a private conversation. "They are amazing, and I like their style", - he appended a laugh. The conversation finished, and Carlos went back to play music for the citizens, they applauded, he smiled, our trip continued.
